My latest song I originally wrote about several years ago. Recently done a new Re recording of the song with more distortion effect on the guitars and less effects on the vocals and improved vocals. The songs message is about how some people seem to just loose their temper and get angry and go in a rage at the slightest trigger of things. Some people its like walking on eggshells! They just loo...

To be released on Spotify 31/1/2024. One of my latest song projects I wrote a while ago. More of an alternative rock track. This was shelved about several years ago in basic format. Then completed towards the end of 2023. the song is more relevant now than before. Its about how people in power and society has lost their moral and spiritual guidance/compass and thus we are left with lies, Insani...

DECORATING AND REFURBISHING A BEDROOM 0VER A FIVE MONTH PERIOD
Переглядів 32610 місяців тому
I have been slowly refurbishing and decorating a main bedroom in our house over a five months this year. From May to September 2023. Thought I would film the progress. I am very happy with the transformation. I achieved this by working on the bedroom slowly each month. it works because you are not pressurizing yourself to complete the task.
Transforming an old tired patio for under £150.00

a short video of my garden project this year. Decided after putting up with a old dated and tired patio which consisted of broken flag stones which most of it had sank. This was here when we moved into the house in 2006. Transformed the area dramatically on a low budget. Really pleased with the outcome! ENJOY and I hopefully may have inspired some of you?

My good friends Darrell and Kallam have installed some LED lighting strips above one side of the layout thus so far, It has improved the filming of Ballan Parkway down one side significantly! Just a very short running session in the new Marshalling yard as an example. ENJOY!

Really enjoyed this video which I have seen several times, love the detail and oh yes that there's a station called "Arse End"! Brilliant 👏.
But where was it built ?
The real one Darlington and Derby. The model probably China?
@@CHESEABUN Thats not China Money !
@@colin5296 It says on their website manufacturing is in China.
The quality is amazing and also the sound sounds very good. If I purchase one of these I will have to tell the Wife I paid £5 for it don’t tell her.😂😂 great video cheers Carl
Definitely worth the money. The deal with me and the wife is that I said I will sell my Bachmann 25 to subsidise the SLW one.
I have D7672 on order from SLW, due in a few months I believe, can't wait!
That should be due soon. You won’t be disappointed. Richard
What I really like about your layout is a train can go under a bridge as if leaving the main scene and emerge into a vast yard!!
Thank you Richard
A class 25 which gets the cab windows just right, brilliant
Yes. Just found it it is correct. Richard
The only thing that stops this looking like a real loco in your first shot, is the fact the body is matt not gloss like the real one would be.
Never thought about that. You can always see wrinkles in the the body panels with the gloss real locos. There must be a reason they did it in Matt?? Cheers Richard
@CHESEABUN I recall just a few years back it was the in thing to t cut loco bodies. Particularly steam locos...to make them shine. This could then be weathered gently to suit. In your case the shiny body would contrast to general dirty "not black" as our friend Nigel would say. Just like the real thing .Well....no ripples as you rightly point out lol
@gs425 and the 'chopper' couplings! Otherwise a Fabulous loco.
I use to see one of these on 2M59 P'boro to Crewe parcels every day and the loco was NOT glossy. Matt and well weathered blue. Any loco out of works was only glossy for a week or two. Can you confirm one thing on your lovely 25 model please? Is the yellow panel on the front of the loco painted and not just coloured plastic? Thanks.
@@tulyar1043 It is definitely painted. Richard
Genuinely thought your photo was a photo of the real loco. Beautiful loco, shown to great effect on your layout. All the best.
Thanks for the kind comment. Richard
The Suttons class 25 is a work of art, pure and simple. I'd say its taken the crown as the best RTR British locomotive you can currently buy, which the Cavalex class 56 had briefly pinched from the Suttons class 24. The old Bachmann windscreens on their 25/3 look different because they got them very wrong all those years ago, and on their old class 24, 25/1 and 25/2. Another area where the old Bachmann models show their age can be found at the solebars along the sides, on the Suttons 25 its recessed in quite deeply, just like the real thing. Those old Bachmann 24s and 25s are still very sweet runners though, among the smoothest we've ever had, and they still make for good affordable layout engines.
I got the Cavalex 56 earlier this year. Just got it back from the weathering works recently and was going to do a review on it. Then the 25 turns up out of the blue after a long wait. Yes the 25 as you say is pure art! I will do a review on the Cavalex 56 as that is also a stunning model! Just listed my old Bachmann 25 on E bay this evening. As you say the Bachmann model ain’t bad and as for early sound not bad either. Thanks Richard. Will the Accurascale 31 top this due soon?
@@CHESEABUN My experience with Accurascale models is that they're very good indeed...but they don't quite hit the highest step. From what I saw of the Accurascale 31 at DEMU not too long ago, they got the engine hatches a bit wrong. It'll still be a seriously impressive model, better than the Bachmann 31 IMHO, but more another case of nearly but not quite. I love Accuras 37s, but there are aspects of them which I'm not so keen on like the removable roof panel which doesn't re-seat quite true and overly heavy detail on the roof hatches. I also feel the windscreen surround seams for the whole frame is overdone for the sake of saying 'look, we included that detail'.
Hi, very nice. I have an SLW class 24, which i always think were the best kept secrets in OO. I remember seeing one and thinking, oh out of my league, must be so expensive. Then found they werent! That a brilliant loco. All the very best Dave.
I thought that as well. Yes they are a little more but really not a lot compared with the big players. I got the 24 second hand a few years ago. That raised the bar then.
@@CHESEABUN I agree, yes they are a little more price wise, but not that much for the extra amount of detail and the super sounds you get with them, especially considering the Class 24 came out a few years back now.
I bought a sound 2nd hand 24 from Rails. Beautiful. Got a green 25 on order and asked them to fit crew for me. Didnt fancy taking body off like the 24 to fit crew
I also got 24 081 2nd hand from rails a few years ago. I was blown away with that model back then. You will love the new one. Lots to discover with the model. Richard
Stunning locomotive Richard and SLW have knocked this one out of the park! Can’t wait to get my hands on Tamworth Castle in BR Green livery, hope it’s not 3 years though 🤣 managed to pick up a 2nd hand SLW 24 in RTC livery the other day but without sound , just sent off a spare plux22 decoder to be reblown with a Jamie Goodman sound file from roads & rails , don’t think it’ll have all the sound functions as yours but should sound great 👍
You won’t be disappointed Darrell. I would have thought Tamworth castle should be out soon?? I am still discovering things with the sound files. Very responsive differing sounds with each notch. Like to see both of your 25’s. Richard. Just listed my old Bachmann one on E bay. Which is actually not a bad model and sound.
Hi Richard excellent review I have the two tone green on order.
You won’t be disappointed. They should be available soon?. Cheers Richard
Hi Richard the wait seems to be worth it I’m still waiting for Tamworth castle like you 3 years + pre ordered cheers Al
Hi Al, Tamworth Castle should be out soon?? You won’t be disappointed. Lots to discover with the model. Richard
I have a 24 and 25 on order from them
You won’t be disappointed! Enjoy. Much to discover with these locos especially the sound files. Richard
Hi Good review , I’ve had mine for 6 months now and still think it is most detailed oo loco made and with price increases by other manufacturers it is also a reasonable price.
Absolutely. Can’t really fault this one. I think there is some competition going with the class 25? Many manufacturers of this loco. Richard
Quite agree it is a stunning model and an improvement on SLW's class 24 releases. Thank you for sharing.
I was blown away with the 24 which I bought second hand from rails of Sheffield a few years ago. Then this! Thanks for watching. Richard.
Great video, I have Tamworth Castle on order. The loco looks and sounds amazing, thanks for sharing..👍
You won’t be disappointed. Even though it’s been a long wait. Richard
me too
Lovely layout and the weathering on the wagons is brilliant, especially those hoppers at the start of the video.
Such a realistic model. Thanks for sharing.
Yes this one is very impressive... Richard
beautiful engine ... ty for the video
No probs. I am very impressed with this loco...Richard
A very nice model Richard.
This one is very impressive Richard...
Incredible layout totally inspiring I never tire of watching it love the outdoor bit and what's been built in the garage so realistic of the railways as I remember them in the 70is
Thank you and thanks for watching. There is not much left of the outside section. The fence came down in a storm about 3 years ago hence taking the railway line with it. New fence but decided not to rebuild the outside section. So much maintenance involved! So concentrated recently on building a marshalling yard extension on the inside layout since. Richard
Thank you for posting this update video. What you called barrow crossing boards are called crossing deckings. I use to inspect anything from a six track level crossing down to small foot crossings and everthing in between during my Railway career.
Thanks for that. I don’t know where I got the name Barrow board from? Something that I heard years ago in my teens. Thanks for watching. Richard
Wow, I actually saw that train being driven off along those tracks (under the road bridge) for the final time after the cement works shut down. We lived at Southerham farm and I’d walk along there to get into Lewes.
That’s really interesting. When did it cease to be a cement works? 1982ish? I think I look after some items for a wildlife conservation site near to your farm for work? That industrial estate must have been a huge change after the cement works ceased? Interesting place. Thanks for the info. Richard.
chin a v irus
Poor Mr Beaching the Uckfield to Lewes line was closed in 1969 because of a weak bridge near Barcombe Mills and the expenditure of replacing the bridge could not be justified by the level ticket revenue on that at the time of running that service.
DEMU
Network Rail did plan to electrify the from Oxted to Uckfield but now that is total of the cards and it was a weak bridge at Barcombe Mills that closed the line from Uckfield to Lewes and not Dr Beaching also I use to live just outside Uckfield until 1990 and there was talk of reopening the line to Lewes way back then so I can't see the part of the line being reopening in my life time and the Uckfield to to Tonbridge that's an other story
Marvellous Layout.
Great point about the mid-point video..... it *is* off-putting.
It certainly is! Some video now you are a few seconds in and it plays ads. So annoying!
Mi aspettavo il trenino thomas ....😅
Hi Richard, why has your channel not been in my recommended videos before 😄, I've missed so much. Impressive stuff indeed, wonderful layout. Subscribed straight away 👍🏻
Thank you and thanks for subbing. There is a lot to catch up on then. I also do my own music and occasionally other stuff in this channel. Much appreciated Enjoy Richard
What does the "M" mean on the signal?
“mainline”
@@CHESEABUN Thank you!
Superb layout Richard. Those fine details really make the difference! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Hi, a great update, I especially like the Yard Lights, they might be just what I am looking for myself. Then you go and show them at Leicester TMD in the 1980's.............my local station. I used to go spotting there about when that photo was taken! The Signal Box sound module is brilliant, I put one under one of my own signal boxes, although mine is under the board, but it's still more than loud enough, a great unit isn't it? Happy modelling, all the very best Dave.
Hi Dave, The yard lights are a fairly new release. I bought them at Alexandra palace model railway show this year from the Bachmann stall. I am really impressed with them. The sound modules are great. Got this as a birthday present. I remember Leicester depot having the tall yard lights. I think Barrow Hill still has them? Thanks for watching.
I think there's one still at leicester opposite platform 4
It is wonderful when a layout is large enough to accommodate lots of detail without it looking crowded.
Yes, That’s true. I have tried not to overcrowd the layout hopefully. Thanks for watching Richard
Superb realism. That marshalling yard, and the weathering on those waggons (especially the oil tankers) is fantastic. Watching a vid without ads chipping in mid-word is such a nice change to everything else I watch!
Thanks for the kind comments. Glad you enjoyed it. The wagons have to be weathered. More grime the more realism. Cheers Richard
Much progress and well done. 👍 _Can remember the track access to Linford Street Jcn (Battersea) being through a mucky waterlogged scrapyard (thence up onto the viaduct)!_
Orange biting nails?
@@CHESEABUN Railway staff (myself included) would not have been able to traverse the 100 yards or so through a large scrapyard without walking through knee-depth of dirty oily water. Furthermore, I would not drive a personal vehicle through such depth of water let alone into a scrapyard where debris could puncture or damage tyres. Network Rail Infrastructure Limited had to call up a Land Rover to get us through the site. Does that answer your question? _Twenty years on the site appears to be much changed and cleaned up (on Google) and now appears to handle recycling. Road access was from Pensbury Place (close to Factory Jcn) thence along the scrapyard site to gates underneath a railway viaduct arch located towards the far end of the scrapyard (four arches London-side of the Up Chatham lines signal gantry). Thence walking alongside the Stewart Lane tracks (past the relay room) the metal stairs up the side of the viaduct to Lindford Street Jcn (on the Chatham Lines) are located alongside four lineside location cases on a steel supporting structure._ _As an aside, and with Eurostars (then) running into Waterloo, a twenty-minute daytime possession was taken of the Chatham reversible (to create a safe space) and all movements into Victoria (Eastern) were diverted along the Up Stewarts Lane - this may have puzzled a few passengers._
Interesting. Privatisation and probably modern regulations have certainly tidied up some of the railway infrastructure. A bit political. But what do you think is best for the railways today. Privatisation or nationalisation? I am on the fence with this...
@@CHESEABUN Fortunately I am very much retired and (despite repeated offers of work) have no interest in any further involvement with the railway industry (having worked for and in both the public and private sectors around the globe). The UK's railways have suffered from Governmental interefernce /inaction almost since day one. The 1997 privatisation model followed EU Directive 91/440 and has been poorly managed by succesive Governments. The current debacle is essentially nationalisation in all but name, with NRIL being an underfunded public not-for-profit company. The TOCs are now (mostly)* management contracts to an inept DfT who cannot afford the salaries need to attact experienced railway staff. DfT now pays operators to run the trains whilst DfT receives the revenue from the fare box whilst (in essence) instructing operators what to do. _*(Scotrail comes under Holyrood, Transport for for Wales the Senedd then there are some wholly provate operators such as Hull Trains. Virtually all the rolling stock remains in private ownership)._ Having caught a cold during Covid, DfT appear intent on cutting costs to the detriment of the railway..... If you fancy two interesting (business-orientated) reads may I recomment _'Sir Herbert Walker's Southern Railway'_ by C.F. Klapper and _'British Railways 1948-73'_ by T.R. Gourvish.
The loco sound is incredible. I am sure that I could even hear the air compressor spool down while it was stationary at the yard signal. Do you use a "drive hold" feature to make the loco sound like it is really working hard as it pulls away?
An amazing video! Great work!
Thank You, I am still waiting for SLW’s class 25 any time now to arrive. Cheers Richard
The concrete wall and metal palisade fencing has come out very well. The overgrown section looks epic.
Thanks for watching. I have enjoyed working in this section. Richard
Great update Richard, lots of little detail bits to see and enjoy, many thanks for sharing take care regards Barry.👍

I travelled on the line once in 1963 when I had a local railrover ticket. Great fun. Pity it's gone along with the Uckfirld line.
I would have loved to travel that line. Slightly before my time ( born 1965). Should never have been axed. Along with many others. Richard
Very nice
Hi, That's a rather nice loco. How wonderful to get that as a present, your very lucky. So I looked up the model number, BR Chromatic Blue with sound.............So it sounds, oops, like a dapol sound decoder, and Chromatic Blue was used only on a few locos between BR Green and the more usual BR Blue. SYP on the description refers to "Small Yellow Panel" instead of full yellow ends more normally seen with BR Blue. You mentioned the Headcode at each end of the loco in the video, did you know BR started setting them to the loco number when they stopped using them...........Just something I have seen in many Western photos. Anyway, a lovely model, sounds amazing, should be a useful loco. All the very best and thanks Dave.
Thanks for the kind comments Dave, Yes, it’s a nice model. Some of the photos I have seen. They were really run down dirty and tatty towards the end of their service. Thanks for watching Richard
Looks and sounds really good.
Thank you. I need to find out who did the DCC sound? Really impressed with it. Thanks for watching. Richard.
